As one of the four Portuguese cities that have passed the final stage of the candidacy process for the European Capital of Culture, Braga is now preparing its final Bid Book that will integrate new artistic projects. Within the scope of this final Bid Book, a second call was opened, aimed at cultural operators, institutions, and artists from the northern regions of Portugal and Galicia.

This open call had some differences compared to the first one. In addition to the broader scope at the territorial level, the selection criteria valued collaboration with international partners and projects in co-promotion between national and Galician promoters.

Among the projects already selected by the Braga’27 team, there are projects from Galicia, as well as cross-border collaboration projects.

The projects selected in this call will join the projects selected in the first call, which took place between the 15th of April and the 13th of May of last year, during the development of the first Bid Book.

The two calls had strong support from the community, totaling 147 submitted project proposals.

If Braga is recommended to receive the title, the final projects selected from both calls will be implemented as part of the official program of the European Capital of Culture 2027.
